Family Holiday Specials Begin Airing Nov. 29
Television broadcasts set in major U.S. cities

St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 19, 2003 — From New York to San Francisco, Africa to Eastern Europe, Lutheran Hour Ministries' (LHM) family television classics will portray the true meaning of Christmas again this holiday season. Set to begin airing Nov. 29 in major U.S. cities, including New York, Seattle, Chicago, Boston and Atlanta, "Little Shepherd" and "Red Boots for Christmas" blend drama and suspense with the fundamental Christian values of faith, hope, kindness and love.

"Little Shepherd," LHM's newest family special, debuted internationally last year. In addition to being aired in the United States, it will be seen throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East. LHM's adaptation of the American classic, "Little Shepherd" is a whimsical tale of the very first Christmas as seen through the eyes of a shepherd boy and his family.

"Red Boots for Christmas," a family favorite for nearly a decade, teaches young children the importance of kindness and charity. Set in 19th century Germany, it's the story of a bitter shoemaker visited by a Christmas angel. Both animated features will be available for viewing in more than 80 percent of all U.S. households.

"Millions of families will have the opportunity again this year to view LHM quality Christmas specials," says Director of North American Ministries Jane Schmotzer. "Also, our holiday Web sites, www.littleshepherd.org and www.redboots.org, have been designed to entertain the entire family with Christ-centered activities and Christmas crafts."

"Little Shepherd" and "Red Boots for Christmas" each are complete programs that help teach young children the true meaning of Christmas. They include colorful picture-storybooks, a parent's teaching guide, Web site activities, videos and much more.

New this year, "Little Shepherd" has been released on DVD. This interactive family experience tells the story in five languages – English, Spanish, German, French and Mandarin and Cantonese – all cast in subtitles. In addition, the DVD features a behind-the-scenes look at the making of "Little Shepherd." Purchase the DVD through Vision Video at www.visionvideo.com.
